Gathering, friendship, creative flight, colour, cloth:  what encapsulates Wrapt for you?  Some students from St Ursula’s College have created some life size figures and are making me some more but how to theme it?

They are life size, made of clear tape and look amazing hung in trees or standing as a group.  Please reply if you have some ideas and themes for the Wrapt Installation.

I’m also after some happy volunteers to install on Saturday 23rd June.  Wrapt in Rocky 2012 is only 6 weeks away – 24-30 June.  All help is appreciated.

I have a special challenge with the Wrapt Cow Statuettes.  Take a bull, a box, a book and a holiday and put them all together to create a unique and humourous Wrapt assemblage.  Have I got you Interested?

A kit will be mailed to you and all I ask is you bring it back to Wrapt for exhibiting.  What’s the goal?  To create a small intriguing, humourous and unique exhibition at Wrapt 2012.  It’s about play of the best type for Wrapt in Rocky Artists.  There are  only 6 kits, so get in early.   BE BRAVE!!

One great thing about Wrapt this year is that you will be in a small class and this means lots of personal attention! I hope you’re looking forward to some quality time with your chosen tutor and class mates.

It’s exciting to know that you’ll get the best help possible in your Wrapt class this year.  I hope you like the photos from previous classes.   Here’s some kind words from Lorraine about Wrapt in Rocky to remind us why we join up for workshops here in Rocky.  As always enrolments remain open so encourage your friends to come along.

Of course the Knitting circle will return to create more marvels and the fantastic Tutors will entertain us with their evening presentations about their arts practice.

Everyone loves the chance to buy from the wonderful Tutors so the Tutors Bazaar will be held on the Thursday evening.

I’m definitely a furry sort of creature, one found lazing around the beach watching the world go by wearing my favourite sunglasses and impersonating Dame Edna.  Is it truly me?   Just wait and see!

There will be some great local music to dance to and a chance to relax amongst your Wrapt Friends.  Of course everyone’s welcome with or without a costume.

Start collecting and creating animal themed ears, tails, fake fur and other creature bits for the daily challenges and prizes.  The style you choose is totally up to you.

Pull out all your textile treasures to create wild, tame or simply amazing animal features.  If you’re clever you can create your ‘Gone Wild’ Party costume one piece at a time or if not just have fun creating the animal parts of that day.

It’s all about having fun on a simple theme.

You’re in luck because ENROLMENTS in all 16 classes are still OPEN.

Choose from Carol Barton’s ‘Pop Up Books’, Julie Ryder’s ‘Sensational Silks’, Yvonne Twining’s ‘Luscious Leather Bags’ or consider weaving, jewellery, making a traveller’s blanket, encaustic mixed media or even extend your design skills through learning Photoshop.

I encourage you not to procrastinate any longer and to enrol now to ensure your favourite call goes ahead.  All classes need a minimum of 8 students to proceed and I must let the Tutors know at the end of March if their Workshop is to go ahead.

I do take enrolments until 11th June, but after 31st March late fees apply.

It’s simple – just create a miniature artwork that is 20cm x 20cm in any fibre or mixed media medium.  The work should be able to be hung or could be a 3D piece such as a book, box, assemblage or sculpture.

The Theme is open.  All works are hung and a simple [new] ballot system entitles all artists who contribute their work to one fantastic artwork from a fellow student.

The cost to participate is just $20.

The 20 x 20 Exhibition raises funds for Bursaries for emerging and talented Fibre Artists.  There are 3 Bursaries available in 2012.

The more who join in the more we raise to help other Textile Artists and you’ll no doubtenjoy the creative challenge as well!!
