Kirry Toose

Kirry Toose completed Dress Design at East Sydney in the early 70′s and with her formative years in the ‘Rag-Trade’ she was able to further explore and develop sections of pattern making and garment construction, creating a very strong foundation to her current textile art practise.

Her art has evolved through traditionally acquired Dress Design skills, which included subjects such as Patternmaking and Grading, silk screen printing, garment construction and fashion rendering.  Continuing with her passion for Life Drawing, Painting and design, an illustrative narrative is now iconic as part of Kirry’s arts practise.

Exhibitions include Regional Galleries, private and community galleries, Australian Image Gallery, Art to Wear Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, London, Alexandra Palace and Pittsburgh, USA.  At the WOW Awards in New Zealand Kirry had the honour of being Supreme Award Winner at Fashion Fantasia; plus, Acquisition Award winner and Supreme Award Winner at Fashion Flair and Fantasy, and Acquisition Award winner, held at the National Gallery Canberra.

Kirry’s Artwear has an International appeal, with numerous works acquired not only with regional galleries, but also privately.  Kirry has regularly contributed articles for magazines and television, is actively involved with numerous textile associations and is very proud to be sponsored by Bernina.
