Lidia Godijn


Lidia Godijn is a fibre and textile artist specializing in woven textiles, three dimensional textile works, wearable art, and machine embroidery and has an interest in jewellry making and photography.

Lidia hand dyes her yarns and fabric rather than using commercially dyed materials.  She has used ikat dyeing techniques in her weaving for 30 years.  Her preferred material is fine silk.

Lidia’s original training was in Agricultural Science, starting art education training in the 1980′s, when she attained a Diploma of Arts with a major in Woven Textiles and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Riverina College of Advanced Education.

In 1997 Lidia completed a Master of Arts Degree (Visual and Performing Arts from Charles Sturt University, followed by a Master of Education degree a few years later.  Lidia has been teaching mainly in secondary education (art) since 1987 in NSW and from 2000 to 2007 working in and with Aboriginal Education in the Kimberley, WA.

‘I have worked in Community arts and exhibited in various group exhibitions during the 1990′s in Sydney, Goulburn and Canberra.  I moved to Queensland in 2007 and live in Tannum Sands, Central Queensland’.
