Discover the magic of the sculptural book through exploration of 3D and pop-up forms.   Learn a variety of pop-ups structures, beginning with simple non-adhesive cut-and-fold pop-ups and progressing through a series of more complex glued constructions.

Explore several sculptural bindings, including the basic accordion books, the carousel book (a nested series of accordion pleats) and the tunnel book (two accordions holding a series of page frames).

Both the carousel and the tunnel book are theatrical stage-like constructions employing layers of images. Students will learn basic binding skills such as proper folding techniques and book cover preparation.

This is an ideal class for teachers, graphic designers, creative artists, anyone who likes to play with paper.
