The Wrapt Team

Nanette Balchin: Event creator and Coordinator
I am a mixed media and book artist, printmaker and event coordinator.  My current passion is managing the Wrapt in Rocky 2012 event.  This makes me feel like I have gone to heaven and have come back doing what I love and always aspired to achieve!

In early 2007 I made the decision to pursue my dream to create a Regional Textiles Forum.  I had as my tools a strong community sector management background, a passion for textiles, very good local knowledge, experience in arts events and the average artists’ bank balance of very little dollars.  My goal was to create a unique yet especially CQ feel to the event (hence the name ‘Wrapt in Rocky”) but also to remain autonomous, community focussed and imaginative in my approach.

I must acknowledge that the ongoing support and encouragement from Janet de Boer of TAFTA has been priceless and also the TAFTA board who auspiced the first Wrapt in Rocky in 2008.  I continue to love coordinating Wrapt in Rocky and to strive to make each new Wrapt in Rocky just that bit better, just a bit different and always unique fun and exciting.

The Wrapt Team
Wrapt in Rocky 2008 and 2010 came to reality and have been successful events through hard work and fantastic support from a team of committed volunteers.  This team consists of Joyce Goble, Julie Thornton, Trish and Neil Craig, Kay Lanyon, Jude Skeers, Nola Roberts, Jan Collins, Rosemary Jewell and over 30 other volunteers from Central Queensland.

They fulfil the many jobs and roles at the planning stage of Wrapt including planning the calendar of activities, setting up accommodation venue and classrooms, tutor support, planning functions, catering, event promotions and more.

During the event the team looks after the day to day program, student support, functions, bazaar and the fun roles like Tutor Angels, party hosts and exhibitions set up.  New volunteers are always welcome and bring whatever you can to Wrapt in Rocky.
